Rio, 1904-2024: desejo de uma cidade = Desire of a city

The exhibition celebrates the 120th birth anniversary of journalist and businessman Roberto Marinho (1904-2003) and anticipates the celebrations of the 460th anniversary of the city's foundation in 2025. This exhibition - curated by Lauro Cavalcanti, Márcia Mello and Victor Burton - comprises photographs, paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures that, in these 120 years, have had Rio de Janeiro as their theme or main inspiration. From it emerges a dynamic and vital city that is nourished by its qualities and, not infrequently, by its vicissitudes. There are photographs and paintings by 75 Brazilian and foreign artists of different generations and trends who approached Rio in their works. There are also drawings, sculptures, videos, models, design pieces, posters and publications presented in exhibition nuclei that express the complexity and cultural diversity of the "Marvelous City": icons, body, to live, to celebrate, to concentrate, to project, to film, to act, to remember, to write.
