Sobre Toward the Union of Generative Grammar, Cognitive Linguistics and Emergentism in Biolinguistics
"In this book, the author proposes reconciling Generative Grammar, Cognitive Linguistics and Emergentism in Biolinguistics. He specifically intends to combine these three fields of research into a variant of Jackendoff's Parallel Architecture endowed with a pragmatic structure. To do so, he firstly supports Jackendoff's critiques of Chomsky's syntacticocentrism, adding in also critiques of Langacker's semanticocentrism, Lakoff and Johnson's metaphorocentrism, and Tomasello's culturalism. Secondly, he refutes the premise that Cognitive Linguistics and Generative Grammar are incompatible and irreconcilable. Instead, he claims that cognitivism and generativism are complementary research programs since generativists and cognitivists focus on different aspects of language. Finally, he aims to contribute to the acknowledgment of greater empirical adequacy of linguistic models in Parallel Architecture in comparison to competing theoretical frameworks, such as the Minimalist Program"-- Provided by publisher.
